Diego was born in Caracas, Venezuela, but moved to Barcelona, Spain at a very young age. He lived in Barcelona for 15 years, until he graduated from the Benjamin Franklin International School of Barcelona. He then went on to study at the University of Connecticut where he spent his junior year studying abroad at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago, Chile. Diego completed his Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies and Spanish Literature in May 2016. 

Diego is a graduate of the Florida International University College of Law. He completed his Juris Doctor in December 2021. In law school, Diego was the Vice President of the Immigration Law Society and frequently worked as a volunteer with the FIU Immigration Law Clinic. He has over three years of experience in immigration and has worked in asylums, naturalizations, adjustments of status, family-based petitions and employment-based immigration. 

As someone who has been a migrant most of his life, Diego is passionate about helping migrants and considers them members of his community. Diego is fluent in Spanish, English, and Catalan
